Liz chosen to lead on Care and Older People

[07/10/2011 | 1 Comment]

I’m delighted, and honoured, to have been appointed Labour’s Shadow Minister for Care and Older People.

This is a hugely important issue that touches the lives of millions of families up and down the country, many of whom are worried about the future of care and support for older people under this Government.

I’m determined to speak up for the needs of older people, their carers and families, and to hold the Government to account for its actions.

    Hi Liz

Very many congratulations on your elevation to Ministerial rank.A very well deserved promotion. I think you will be a tremendous asset in your new role, esuring that your coalition opposite number’s actions are rigourously scrutinised and is held to account.

Very many the older people’s thoughts will be turning to the coming centennial commemorations of the Great War(2014-2018)when they will remembering their parents/grandparents who fought in that great conflict. I’m pleased to say there is now about to be a Leicestershire & Rutland branch of the Western front Association that is holding its inaugural meeting on 24 October in the Lord Mayor’s Room, New Walk Museum, Leicester.

I think the older people in Leicester and right across country will have a real champion as result of your appointment.

    Many congratulations

    John Sutton
    Branch Chairman
    Leicestershire & Rutland WFA
