Local crime and policing issues

[02/07/2012 | No comment]

I recently met with Inspector Kevin Morris the Commander at Beaumont Leys Local Policing Unit which covers New Parks, Beaumont Leys and Abbey wards.

Inspector Morris told me that overall crime in the area is down more than 17% since this time last year. This is fantastic news, and shows that the hard work being done by our local police is having a real impact, despite the massive cuts they are facing to their funding.

However, there remain real concerns about levels of crime locally, particularly  those related to illegal drugs.

I will continue to work closely with Inspector Morris to ensure our neighbourhood police continue to focus on the issues that matter most to local residents.
