Raising awareness of breast cancer

Sarah Perry
My constituent Sarah Perry was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. Through her own experience, Sarah knows only too well how essential it is to raise awareness of the symptoms of breast cancer and to get early treatment.

However, Sarah is really concerned about sexualised images being used to promote breast cancer awareness – like the use of topless models and Page 3. I totally agree. Breast cancer is a terrible and distressing disease which 138 women are diagnosed with every single day.

I support the fantastic work of charities like Cancer Research, Macmillan Cancer Support and Breakthrough Breast Cancer, who work tirelessly to ensure that women have the information they require to check for the signs and symptoms of cancer and to seek early diagnosis.

Talking to Sarah was really inspirational. I am backing her campaign, and I hope you will too.
